Cannon ball!  This July, we celebrated a summertime birthday party for a wonderful two year old.  With Boston weather being so unpredictable in the middle of July, it’s almost impossible to host a perfect-weather party outdoors.  This creative mom came to us with dreams of a summer celebration, without the excessive heat and inconvenience of hosting at an outdoor venue.  We gladly accepted the challenge, creating a gorgeous indoor pool party for the birthday girl!

Our inspiration for designing this party came from water, beach balls and bubbles…anything swim, sand and summer!  We added fishnet scoops to our Goldfish bar, drink umbrellas to our croissants, and beach balls along the ceiling.

The little guests stayed busy (and extremely entertained!) with themed activities, like sand sensory bins and a water table.  The bubble machine was a big hit, too!  With this crew, however, the best part of the day came when Elmo walked into the room and the birthday girl ran to him, all smiles!

Each child left with bubbles and towels as party favors- just the perfect items for their next poolside adventures.  Happy Birthday, Brielle!

Warm temps, blue skies, summer is here in Boston. Whether heading out to a picnic on the esplanade or vacationing on the Cape, check out a few of our mommy and me summer essentials that you can find in our favorite local shops.

Swim Gear
Get your little one water ready. Tadpole has a great selection of bathing suits, sun hats, sunglasses, and swim shoes. As much as I love the sweet and playful patterns by Iplay, I really appreciate the fact that the swim diapers are built right into the bathing suit bottoms; just wash and reuse. Doesn’t get much easier!

Picnic Blanket
Pack light. Magic Beans in the Prudential Center sells my go to baby shower gift, the J.J. Cole Essentials Blanket. The reason I highly recommend this blanket to my mom friends because it’s waterproof (babies=messy) and is easy to clean. It also folds up compactly so I can easily toss it under my stroller and it doesn’t take up much room. With this blanket we are ready for any pop-up outdoor play.

Organization
Keep everything in order. As a mom, I have a million things running through my head before I run out the door. I love items that keep me organized and serve dual purposes. Flat on the Hill has coolers and totes by Scout. The bold and preppy designs disguise the fact that you’re lugging around baby food pouches and swim diapers. The bag can be used to store wet towels and clothes for the way home. Getting you to and from your destination in style.

Hydrate
Sip in style. Paper Source has really cute stainless steel water bottles by S’well. This item is amazing because it keeps your drink cold for 24 hours. As a new mom, on the go, you rarely have a moment to think of yourself. By the time you have baby situated your water (or iced coffee!) is sweating and warm. Treat yourself to a cold beverage this summer!

SPF
Protect your skin… without chemicals! Follain to the rescue! Ilia by Balmy Ray keeps you lips hydrated and moisturized without a gross sunscreen taste. They also sell Suntegrity Mineral Sunblock 30 SPF. I love this stuff because it’s not greasy and it is full of antioxidants gives you anti-aging protection. What mom doesn’t need that?

Happy Summer South End families!

We love parents who bring us new ideas…as was the case for Hazel’s (First Ever) Birthday!  When this wonderful mom came to us with a personal love of dinosaurs (her and dad had a triceratops wedding cake!), we knew we had to make Hazel’s birthday party a pink and purple paradise, no shortage on T-Rexes, brontosaurus and pterodactyls.

We used bright colors with pops of gold for the decor, switching it up from our standard blues and greens.   We brought pinks and purples any place that we could, through balloons, dino masks for the children’s chairs, hanging banners, and more.  Our friends at Oakleaf Cakes crafted this impressive triceratops cake, which added the sweetest touch of nostalgia and pulled the entire look together.  We absolutely loved the way this party came out, and know it was a rawring good time, too!

For party favors, the little guests left with dinosaur masks and goodie bags with bubbles and crayons, all dinosaur themed, of course!  Please enjoy photos of this special one year old’s birthday party – we have a feeling this won’t be the last girly dinosaur party at Little Lovage Club!

Somewhere over the neon rainbow, Grayson turned 7!  When the birthday girl shows up in a gold sequin dress, you know it’s going to be a great celebration. This crew kicked off summer vacation with a perfectly appropriate Colorful Artists themed party.  Don’t the colors remind you of popsicles, lemonade and sweet summertime?

The guests happily painted canvases with tons of color, carefully sketching out their designs before picking up their paintbrushes.  Friends enjoyed getting their faces painted (butterflies, lions and more!) and settled in for a late-afternoon magic show from our talented friend David Hall.  It was the perfect kick off to summer 2016, and a really special day for the birthday girl.  Happy Birthday, Grayson!

Every week, we open our doors at Little Lovage Club to moms of infant babies and provide a warm, welcoming space for them and their little ones.  We strive to create an environment where new moms can seek consistent, strong advice, meet other women who have recently experienced the same life-changing events, and gain confidence in all things motherhood and self.

This year for Mother’s Day, we decided to do something super sweet for all the beautiful mamas we know and love.  Along with the help of Nicole Starr Photography, we hosted another incredible Celebrating Motherhood event, to pamper mom and bring her in front of the camera!  We absolutely fell in love with the mini photo sessions we hosted at our space last fall, and knew we had to do it again for this special holiday.

Upon arrival, moms were treated to hair and make up, while their little ones were entertained by local babysitters.   We even had a few grandmas join in on the fun, as part of our three generation package.  We stepped back as Nicole took over the rest- producing some spectacular photos (and moments!) between mom and child.   Enjoy the beautiful photos, and head over to Nicole’s Blog if you want to check out more!
